My name is Krista S. Anderson. I have a great love for animals and am so blessed to have found a career that is also my passion. My goal is to make your pets' day as routine as possible, as if you never left. You tell me how you care for your pet and I mimic that. I would like to be the "Fun Aunt" (I even have a client that calls me Auntie Krista and I love it)! That means if there is anything extra special I can do for your pet, I would love to - give a special treat, play with a special toy, or a special place to walk maybe.

I have lived in Sheboygan since August of 2001. I grew up in Port Washington/Saukville. My husband Josh and I have been together since June of 2001 and married in September of 2006. I have 7 wonderful cats, 5 of which are rescues. Growing up I had dogs, cats, fish, a parakeet, salamanders and guinea pigs.

The idea to start a pet-sitting business came to me when I was talking to an acquaintance about how I was into watching Cesar Milan, the dog whisperer and that wouldn't it be nice to help dogs have a second chance. However, knowing my background is solely a love of animals, no veterinarian experience or psychology either, that was not a career I was prepared for. They stated that they knew someone that does pet-sitting. That was my ah-ha moment in January of 2007. I went home and did a Google search for starting a pet-sitting business. That is where I found the package that a husband and wife team, in Eau Clair, put together. I eagerly awaited the arrival of my disk and got to work personalizing the documents that would provide me a good education about each animal and give the owners peace of mind. They are also agents for my liability insurance, so it was pretty easy to get my business started.

Fast forward to January of 2012: I have enjoyed building my business and have met over 300 families. I am sure that is more than 600 pets thanks to all the multiple animal homes. I do have families that I work for Monday through Friday to give their dog(s) a mid-day break. I am very pleased with the success of When You're Away, LLC and am happy to fill a need.
